The process combines the physical and chemical absorption of hydrogen sulfide under weak alkaline condition with the biological regeneration of alkaline solution under the action of air. The methane containing hydrogen sulfide enters the scrubbing tower, where it is washed by the alkali solution which absorbs hydrogen sulfide. The removal rate of hydrogen sulfide from the treated methane is as high as 99.5%. After system treatment, biogas can be used to generate electricity from gas-fired generators for use as boiler fuel or input to local small-scale gas supply network.
